Program Description: PSP is a nationally acclaimed family involvement and support program offered through participating childcare centers in Hillsborough County. The program is provided through collaboration with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. The program gives parents the information and support they need to raise healthy children. PSP coordinators help parents plan activities and gatherings for families enrolled in their childcare centers. PSP coordinators also help identify potential risks and challenges facing children and work with parents to address those concerns. The Kindergarten Transition Program (KTP), a service of PSP, works with pre-school children and their parents, along with local elementary schools, to ease the child’s transition into kindergarten. KTP encourages parents to build a relationship between the kindergarten teacher, their child and the school prior to the start of the new school year. KTP also suggests that parents implement daily routines associated with attending school, including developing reading readiness skills and practicing positive social interaction.
